Joe Loy

The community was shocked Fri­day morning when it, was learned here that Joseph F; Loy, 41, had taken his life at his home in Mon­ticello. The body of Mr. Loy was found in the basement of his home by Mrs. Ora Hughes, housekeeper in the home. He had shot himself with a .22 caliber automatic pistol.  His wife was in Marion at the time, attending a convention. Mr. Loy was the manager of the Loy Roofing Company in Delphi, having assumed that position when his father, the late George Loy became ill in 1936. The de­ceased was born at Ockley, the son of George and Bertha Loy. He was graduated from Delphi high school and attended Indiana University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was a member of the Delphi Methodist church, Masohic and IOOF lodges and the Lions Club. He was married in 1949 to Ruth Paschen of Monticelllo and since that time had resided in that city. Mr. and Mrs. Loy were the own­ers of Beech Grove farm, south of Delphi where they raised regis­tered Angus cattle. Surviving with the widow are a son, Roger; his mother, Mrs, Ber­tha Loy; two sisters, Mrs.Troy Quinn, who was associated with her brother in the operation of the Loy Roofing Company, and Mrs.Lujean Taylor, both of Delphi. Ä sister, Mrs. Homer Spring, and his father preceded in death.  Funeral rites were conducted Sunday afternoon in Monticello with Rev. Forest W. Howell of­ficiating. Burial was in Riverview cemetery, Monticello;
