Dale McCurdy

 I. Dale MaCurdy, 75, of Rt. 2, Monticello, died at 5:30 a.m. April 3, 1990, in Home Hospital.  He had been a patient there since April 1.
  Born Oct. 2, 1914, in Tippecanoe County, he was the son of Thomas C. and Ethel Smith MaCurdy.  He had lived in Carroll County the past 40 years.
  His marriage was March 4, 1939, in Deer Creek, to Nellie Frances Fouts, who died Feb. 9, 1981.
  He was with the Indiana State Police, West Lafayette Post, from 1945-1969, retiring as a Detective Sergeant.  During 1969-70, he was chief investigator for the Indiana Securities Division for the Indiana Secretary of State.  While serving as Carroll County Sheriff from Jan. 1, 197 to Jan. 1, 1979, he established a merit system for deputies.  He has been chief probation officer for Carroll County since May 1, 1979.
  A 1932 graduate of Delphi High School. He attended law enforcement training schools at Indiana and Purdue universities.  His memberships included Delphi United Methodist Chruch, Delphi Lions Club, Logansport Elks Lodge, Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, Burnettsville Masonic Lodge, Indiana Sheriffs Association, and State Police Pioneers Group.
  He is survived by one son, John D. MaCurdy of Burlington and two grandchildren.
  Services will be a 2 p.m. Friday at Horn Funeral Home with Dr. Ellwood Smith officiating.  Friends may call from 4-09 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
  Memorials may be given to donor's favorite charity.
