Richard Ulm-Hawkins

Richard Hawkins, 89, Brazil, passed away on March 6, 2012, at home following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

He was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Pulaski County, Ind., to John F. and Laura (Bowers) Hawkins. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1941, and attended Purdue University.

He enlisted in the United States Navy Air Corps in 1942 and was in service for three years. He then worked at Eli Lily in Indianapolis as an Industrial Engineer for 36 years.

On Feb. 25, 1944, he married Virginia Haslet. They have two daughters Jo Ann Nees and husband Craig, Poland, Ind., and Joyce Marshall, Hamilton, NY.

His grandchildren are Kelly Nees Perkins and husband Grant, Kerry Nees Woolery and husband Jack and Kyle Nees and fiancé Brittany Kirton, Matthew Marshall, Hawaii, Naomi Marshall, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Luke Marshall, Hamilton, NY, and great granddaughters Trinity and Emma, great grandsons Gavin and Gage, brother Dan Ulm and sister Alice Ulm.

He is preceded in death by his parents Laura Ulm and John Hawkins and a brother James Ulm.

Private memorial services will take place at a later date.
