Paul Edwin Ashba

  Paul E. Ashba, 82, of 322 W. Franklin St., Delphi, died at 5:45 a.m. on Dec. 8, 2005, at Home Hospital in Lafayette.  He had been ill since October.
  Born in Carroll County on Oct. 9, 1923, he was the son of William and Edith Lowther Ashba.  He was a 1942 graduate of Delphi High School.
  His marriage was to Meredith E. Herr in Delphi on June 7, 1945, and she survives.
  Mr. Ashba farmed in Carroll County early in his life, and then managed the former Cassell Lumber Yards in Delphi and Bringhurst.  He also worked for the former Landis Plastics in Monticello for eight years, and was head of security for White Oaks on Lake Freeman for five years.
  He and his father-in-law managed A-H (Ashba & Herr) Construction for several years, building new homes in Carroll and surrounding counties.  He later owned Paul Ashba Builders for several years on his own, building new homes and remodeling.
  Mr. Ashba was a member of the Yeoman United Methodist Church, and of Carroll County Civil Defense, in his earlier years.
  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, camping and the outdoors.
  Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Nadine Kingsley (husband: George) of Monticello; a son, Paul E. Ashba Jr. (wife: Nancy) of Logansport; sister, Annabelle Larimore (husband: Richard) of Delphi; 14 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by a great-grandson.
  Services were Sunday at Abbott Funeral Home, with burial at Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.
