Donald Leon Crowden

  Donald L. Crowden, 79, of Lafayette, died at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18, 2002, in Home Hospital.
  Born July 17, 1923, in Mulberry, he previously resided in Delphi.  He graduated from Delphi High School in 1942, lettering in track and basketball.
  He married Beverly Rose in Lafayette on Oct. 22, 1949.  She survives.
  Mr. Crowden was a saw operator at National Homes in Lafayette, for 37 years, retiring in 1984.
  He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 347, a life member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local Union 2323 in Monon, a former Boy Scoutmaster for Troop 2 at Oakland School, and a YMCA swim instructor at Camp Tecumseh for several years.
  Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Carolyn Crowden Hicks of Atlanta; a brother, John J. Crowden of Berea, Ky.; and one grandson.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene E. Crowden Jr. and Charles "Dick" Crowden.
  Services were held at Hahn Funeral Home, with Rev. Greg Eberhard officiating.  Interment was at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.  Memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America.
