Carl E. Shaeffer

  Carl E. Shaeffer, 50, of Rt. 4, Delphi, died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, of self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, according to Carroll County coroner, James Lloyd.
  The body was found Friday morning at Shaeffer's residence by his daughter, Mrs. Carla Hamilton, also of Rt. 4.
  Born Oct. 25, 1924, in Delphi, he was the son of Lee and Pauline Ulm Shaeffer.  He was married Oct. 31, 1945, in St. Louis, Mo., to Mary Lee Zinn.
  The operator of Shaeffer's Place in Brookston, he was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Delphi American Legion Post No. 75.
  Surviving with the wife and daughter are his mother, Delphi, three sons; Greg of Santa Barbara, Calif., Gary of Atwater, Calif., and Brad, at home; and a foster sister, Mrs. Henry (Clara Lou) Taylor, of Lafayette.
  Services were Sunday at Lloyd Funeral Home in Delphi with Rev. Toby Redelman officiating.
  Burial with full military rites, was at the Delphi Masonic Cemetery.
