Virginia Ruth Brookbank Schaller, 83, a native of Delphi, died Sunday March 13, 2011, at Snow Valley Nursing Center in Lisle, Illinois, after a long illness.  She had been a resident of Naperville, Ill., since 1962.

She was born December 15, 1927, in Delphi and was the daughter of the late Lynn and Margaret Lybrook Brookbank.

A 1949 graduate of Purdue University, she was a teacher in Hammond and worked at Hobson Co-op in Naperville and with the Naperville Park District.

She was a Civil War buff and had visited many sites and traveled throughout the United States, Canada and England.

Surviving are her husband, Richard, whom she married June 16, 1950 and three children, Richard of Naperville, Douglas and Diane Schneider, both of Oak Park, Ill.

Two granddaughters, Beth and Kate Schneider also survive.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and John Brookbank.
