Joseph R. Crowell

Funeral services were Saturday at the Hickory Grove United Church of Christ for Joseph Crowell, 55, of Monticello, formerly of the Hickory Grove community, who died Thursday, Aug. 26, 1982, at 2:30 a.m. in Home Hospital, Lafayette after a lingering illness.
  Born June 9, 1927, in Lafayette, his parents were Ed and Ada Scott Crowell of Monticello.  He married Margie Davis Oct. 19, 1946. the mother and wife survive.
  A 1945 graduate of Delphi High School, he served in the US Navy, World War II, in the Asiatic Pacific area.  He was a lifelong resident of Carroll County until moving to Monticello in 1980.  A lifetime member of Hickory Grove United Church of Christ, Mr. Crowell was a retired farmer and Monticello RCA factory employee.
  Surviving with the wife and mother are two daughter, Suzanne Weaver, Monticello, and Nancy Dedinsky, Whiting, and four grandchildren.
  Rev. Herma Fisher was officiating minister and burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery.  Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home, Monticello was in charge of arrangements.
