Paul A. Kirkpatrick

Paul Alfred Kirkpatrick, 85, died in Lafayette, September 29, 2012. He was born in Delphi, February 28, 1927, to Monroe and Margaret (Maggie) Kirkpatrick.


Paul leaves two sons, Steven (Cathy), of Naples, Fla. and Paul William (Susan), of Minneapolis, Minn. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Douglas, KC, Kelly, and Sarah; and seven great-grandchildren, Kyler, Kesey, Mia, Vince, Violet, Kellen, and Connor.

Paul is also survived by three sisters, Mary Ruth Cullum, Elizabeth Davis, and Norma Wilkinson; brother-in-law, Jim Davis; and sisters-in-law, Joanne Kirkpatrick, and Eldora Kirkpatrick; and many nieces and nephews.

Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife, Emily, in 2007, after 60 years of marriage. Also predeceasing Paul were his parents; brothers, Louis, Oscar, Jack and Donald; sisters, Francis Berry and Meryl Odell; and a granddaughter Carrie Anne.

After graduation from Delphi High School in 1945, Paul joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Naples, Italy where he met and married Emilia (Emily) Acquaroli. Paul, Emily and their two sons lived in Lafayette where Paul was a union carpenter until he retired. After retirement, Paul and Emily shared time between Lafayette and Winter Haven, Fla.

Paul was active in many organizations including Carpenters Local 215, American Legion Post 11, Masons, Lafayette Jefferson Golden Bronchos, the Lafayette Family Y, and was one of the original founders and a board member of the Colt Baseball World Series.

A memorial service celebrating Paul's life will be held at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 3305 Longlois Drive, Lafayette, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday October 6, 2012, with a reception following in the church Fellowship Hall.
