Helen Lucille Scowden (Michael)

Died at her home. Daughter of Noah Cleveland and Bernice Leffler Scowden. Married George Lewis Michael September 14, 1947. He preceded her in death Dec. 19, 1984. Survivors include daughters Donna (Pete) Kresge and Becky (Dennis) Mygrant; brother Robert "Bob" Scowden; sisters Dorothy "Dot" McCormick and Katherine "Kit" Rehwald; 6 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter Diane Rance in 2001 and 3 sisters June Gaumer, Velma Davis, Irma Sprunger and 4 brothers Chester, Kenneth, Charles and Richard Scowden. She was a 1945 graduate of Delph High School. Following high school she went to Washington DC to work for the U.S. Navy departement until the end of WWII. She was retired from the Logansport Community School Corporation where she had worked as a teacher's aide for over 40 years. She was a member of the Wheatland Ave. United Methodist Church, where she was active in the Ruth Circle as well as may other church activities. She was a member of the Royal Center Chapter #375 Order of Eastern Star. She served as a Gray Lady volunteer at Memorial Hospital for many years. Services 1pm Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Wheatland Ave. U.M. Church with Pastor Carolyn DeWitt and Chaplain Scott Ellison officiating. Visitation 4-8pm Monday at Fisher Funeral Chapel and 1 hour prior to services at the church.
