P. Joan Bush Rogers, 88, formerly of Camden, died Thurs-Dec 28, 2017 at 12:45am at St. Mary's Healthcare Center, Lafayette, where she had been a resident for 1 1/2 years.. She was born June 23, 1929 in Burrows, to the late Wilson & Helen Edging Rogers. Her marriage was to John A. Rogers in Knox, on Mar 23, 1954, and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1988. She was a 1947 graduate of Delphi High School, and a 1950 graduate of Methodist School of Nursing, Indianapolis. When she was first married, she helped her husband farm, and they had a dairy. She then went to work at Logansport Memorial Hospital for awhile, then worked at Family Practice Doctors Offices in the surrounding counties. She took a break from nursing to start her family, and drove a school bus and helped cook at the Camden Elementary School. After raising her family she went back to nursing and worked at the former Home Hospital in Lafayette for 14 years, retiring from there. She was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church, and the United Methodist Women, and served on the church executive board. She attended the Burrows Presbyterian Church in her younger days. She belonged to the Aim High Home Ec Club, participated and was a member of W.A.L.L.A. She volunteered at the Carroll County Council on Aging Area IV, enjoyed gardening, knitting, and exhibited her knitting pieces in the Carroll Co. Open 4-H contest. She was extremely involved with her kids activities and functions, and later on, in her grand & great grandchildren's activities. She dearly loved her family, and the time they spent together. Surviving: daughters-Joyce Johnson & Tom Canavan of Monticello, KY, Judy Kendall of Camden, Janet & Jerry Lecy of Lafayette, Jerlyn Rogers & William Gray of Indianapolis; sister-Jane George of Delphi; step sister-Thelma DeWitt of Kokomo. 13 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a step brother Ernest; step sister Virginia; step mother Rose. Services: Friends may call Friday-Jan 5, 2018, from 5pm-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Funeral service there Saturday at 11am, Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating. Burial at Camden Cemetery.
