Kathryn A. Freitag was the daughter of William H. and Anna Newell Freitag. Her siblings were: Jack Freitag, Robert Freitag, Rosemary Freitag Owens, and Helen Freitag Taylor (see mother's obituary). In 1949, Kathryn married Leon J. Eckman. Their children were: Michael J. Eckman, William P. Eckman, and Patricia L. Eckman (see husband's obituary). She died in St. Elizabeth Medical Center due to injuries sustained in a two-car collision at the intersection of SR 25 and I-65. The accident occurred about 4:20 PM Wednesday, May 16, 2007.
