Donald Hankins

Donald L. Hankins, 79, of Lafayette, formerly of Carroll County, died at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009, at St. Anthony Healthcare, Lafayette.

He was born Nov. 4, 1929, in Camden, to the late Walter Ray and Lillian Snipes Hankins. He was a 1947 graduate of Delphi High School.

On Aug. 25, 1984, he married Anna M. Lucas Hankins at their residence in Carroll County, and she survives.

Mr. Hankins was a self-employed farmer all his life in Carroll and Tippecanoe counties.

He was a member of the Logansport Church of Christ and a former member and elder at the Church of Christ in Delphi. He loved farming, tractors, was an outdoorsman, and loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren's summer overnights.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Richard Hankins of Lafayette and Steven Hankins (wife: Debbie) of Estero, Fla.; three stepsons, Mike Hankins (wife: Brenda) of Delphi and Gary Hankins (wife: Margo) and Jim Hankins (wife: Terri), both of Logansport; a stepdaughter, Janet Schneidt (husband: Dale) of Lafayette; and two brothers, Bob Hankins of Milwaukee, Wis., and David Hankins (wife: Becky) of Lafayette.
