Mary K. Sines (Kerker)

Mary K. Sines Kerker, 79, formerly of Delphi, died at 6:29 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette. She had resided at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi since October 2006 and had been a patient at the hospital since Sunday.

Born Oct. 28, 1929, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Earl and Nora Ghere Sines. She was a 1947 graduate of Delphi High School. Her marriage was on Aug. 24, 1959, in Delphi, to Robert L. Kerker, who preceded her in death Aug. 25, 1974.

Mrs. Kerker enjoyed knitting, yard work, the outdoors, bird watching and Purdue University men's sports.

She attended the First Presbyterian Church in Delphi as a child.

She was a homemaker. She dearly loved her two sons, grandchildren and extended family.

Surviving are two sons, Anthony G. "Tony" Kerker (wife: Wendy) of East Moline, Ill., and Jack B. Kerker of Delphi; one brother, Nelson Sines (wife: Pearl) of Delphi; a half-sister, Mildred Waymire (husband: Ed), of Delphi; and three grandchildren, Gabrielle, Mackenzie and Austin Kerker.

Preceding her in death were four half-sisters and two half-brothers.

Services were held Jan. 30 at Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi. The Rev. Bill McLean officiated. Burial followed at I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg.
