Mildred I. Rice, 89, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at IU Arnett Hospital. She was born on June 4, 1929 in Carroll County, IN to the late Oakley V. and Mable C. (Meeks) Smith. Mildred graduated from Delphi High School. On June 13, 1947, she married Robert R. Rice; he passed away on August 6, 2000. They were married for 53 years. Mildred retired from Arnett Clinic after 29 years of service. She was a member of the German American Club. Mildred enjoyed crocheting, pressing flowers, walking and traveling, but mainly the time she had with her family and friends. She loved spoiling her grandchildren. Surviving are one son; one daughter; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Smith; and two sisters, Bonnie Stephen and Donna Eldridge. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday, July 7, 2018, followed by funeral service at 10 AM at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Interment will be at Kilmore Cemetery.
