Barbara L. Thompson Sterrett, 87, of Delphi, died at 6:07pm Mon.-July 18, 2016 at IU Health Arnett Hospital, Laf. She was born July 15, 1929 in Carroll Co., IN, to the late John & Nettie Passons Thompson. Her marriage was to Donald L. Sterrett in Delphi, on May 1, 1948, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1997. She was a 1947 graduate of Delphi High School, and attended St. Elizabeth School of Nursing. She worked for the Delphi Community School Corp., in the High School cafeteria and laundry service for 15 years, and formerly at the Shilo Drive Inn for 9 years, and had cooked at the Carroll Co. Jail for 7 years, worked at the former Delphi Nursing Home and Stone House Restaurant, and was a caretaker for several local residents. She was a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church, a past president of the Carroll Co. ARC, former secretary of the Delphi VWF Auxiliary #9383, Modern Mrs Home Ec Club, and the Delphi Professional Business Women’s Asociation. She ejoyed making jewelry, reading, and traveling. She dearly loved her family. Surviving: daughter-Jan & Kevin Wallace of West Lafayette; sons: Danny & Gloria Sterrett of Delphi, Ed Sterrett & Donna Rush of Cutler, Eric L. Sterrett of Delphi, Darrell & Laura Sterrett of Delphi, Jon Sterrett & Sandra Barr of Delphi. 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by a daughter Alicia; 1brother; 1 sister.
