Opal Gingrich (Shanks)

 Opal L. Gingrich Shanks, 69, of Delphi, died at 2:22 p.m. June 19, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette.
  Born June 6, 1931, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Lawrence and Merle Gushwa Gingrich.  She attended New Hope School and was a 1949 graduate of Delphi High School.
  Her marriage was on Dec. 3, 1950, in Colburn, to Charles Harold Shanks, who survives.
  She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Delphi, where she was past church treasurer and a member of the women's group, holding numerous offices.  She also was a member of the VFW 9383 Ladies' Auxiliary and the Delphi Business Women's Club.
  Also surviving are one son, Mike, and one daughter, Amanda, both of Delphi; and six grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
  Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church with Pastor Toby Rendelman and Pastor Sandy Hutchens officiating.  Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 4-9 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi, and from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.  VFW Auxiliary service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Paint Creek Cemetery, Camden.
  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
