Frank Hildebrand

Frank Ray Hildebrand, 83, of Lafayette, died Wed.-June 10, 2015 at 4:20pm at his residence, after a 9-week battle with cancer. He was born June 18, 1931 in Delphi, to the late Martin & Clara Faye Weaver Hildebrand. His marriage was to Phyllis Jean Hill in Delphi at the Methodist Church, on Nov. 26, 1953, and she survives. He was a 1949 graduate of Delphi High School, and attended IUPUI in Kokomo. He worked for Eli Lilly & Co., from 1958 until his retirement in 1985, a senior personnel rep for the last 20 years. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was extremely active and a member of the Christ United Methodist Church in Lafayette. He was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post #75, and the Lafayette Indiana Historical Auto Club. On Sept. 29, 2014 he went on the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, and wintering in Daytona Beach, FL for many years. He enjoyed genealogy, and was an avid reader. Surviving: wife-Phyllis Jean Hildebrand of Lafayette; daughter-Karen Van Horn of Lafayette; son-Tom Hildebrand finace Beth Bowers of Indianapolis; sisters-Mary Jean Odano of Los Angeles, CA, Mildred Daniels of Delphi; brother-Joe & Delores Hildebrandt of Delphi, and Jim & Chuck Martin who were raised by his mother; grandchildren: Amanda Van Horn fiancé Nick Bailey of Saco, Maine; Jason Van Horn of Lafayette; Emily & Josh Kelsay of Shelbyville; stepgrandson-Justin Starneri of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren: Amiah & McKinnley; stepgreat-grandson: Kaleb; many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by 2 sisters, Joan Echler & Ruth Rhine; a brother Charles Hildebrandt. Services: Friends may call Friday from 5-8pm at Christ United Methodist Church, 3610 S. 18th St., Lafayette. Funeral service there Saturday 11am, Rev. Scott Mann & Pastor Ross Kuester officiating. Entombment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette, with Carroll County Honor Guard providing military rites. Memorial contributions to the Greater Lafayette Honor Flight or Christ United Methodist Church, envelopes available at the church.
