Donald D. Holmes, 57, of Dayton, Ohio, died Jan. 17, 1989, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base Medical Center after an extended illness.
  He was born April 20, 1931, the son of Russell and Hilda Holmes.  His marriage was to Ellen Clawson, who survives.
  Holmes was a 1949 graduate of Delphi High School and was retired from the United States Air Force.  He was a member of the Delphi American Post #75 and the Order of Odd Fellows.
  Surviving with the widow are three sons, three granddaughters, two brothers and one sister.
  Services and burial were in Dayton.  Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
