Orton Zook

Orton O. Zook Jr, 83, of Ockley, died Mon.-Oct 27, 2014 at 5:15am at Wesley Manor in Frankfort. He had resided there since 2008, and had been in failing health. He was born June 4, 1931 in Carroll Co., IN, to the late Orton & Hazel Heffley Zook. His marriage was to Marjorie Garrison in Rockfield on July 23, 1966, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 2004. He was a 1949 graduate of Delphi High School, and a Veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Air Force, from 1951-1955 as an airplane mechanic. He worked for 33 years at the former Eli Lilly in Lafayette, and he and his wife hobby farmed for a time near their home. He was a longtime member of the Radnor United Methodist Church. He enjoyed camping and traveling, and belonged to many camping clubs. He enjoyed wintering at Sanibel Island, FL, for may years. He loved to carve wood, making all kinds of sculptures, animals, and nic nacs. Surviving: brother-Wayne & Jan Zook of Delphi. 17 nieces & nephews survive. Preceded in death by a brother Max. Services: Friends may call Saturday from 11am until his funeral at 2pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Rev. Ed Selvidge officiating. Burial at Hickory Grove Cemetery, rural Carroll County, with military rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.
