Doris Fross (Fouts) - Class Of 1950

Doris Jean Fouts, 88, of Deer Creek, passed away at 6:20 a.m. on Saturday Dec. 21 at Miller's Merry Manor in Logansport.

She was born Sept. 6, 1932 in Liberty Township, Carroll County, to the late Arthur Sr. and Nellie Bernice Been Fross. She was a 1950 graduate of Delphi High School where she was Valedictorian. Her marriage of 63 years was March 14, 1953 at Ft. Smith, Arizona, to William G. Fouts. He preceded her in death on June 11, 2016.
Doris was a homemaker. She was a member of Cass County Extension Homemakers and Cass County Chapter of the American Red Cross, where she was a devoted blood donor; she donated many gallons of blood over the years. She sewed and crocheted for many years for the Deer Creek Presbyterian Women's projects. She also devotedly sewed with her granddaughter Claire on her 4-H projects for 10 years. In 1992, she and her husband Bill were the recipients of the Pharos-Tribune Good Neighbor Award.
She is survived by her daughter Gretchen (Dennis) Crum of rural Galveston; her son Eric Fouts of rural Logansport; her grandchildren Claire Crum of West Lafayette and Jared Crum of Columbus, Ohio; also surviving is a brother Arthur (Linda) Fross Jr. of Kokomo. She was preceded in death by her brother Alan Fross.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26 at the Deer Creek Presbyterian Church and funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31 at Deer Creek Presbyterian Church with Pastor Harry Roselle officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Deer Creek.
The family requests memorial contributions to the Deer Creek Presbyterian Church or the American Red Cross. Cree Funeral Home, Camden is assisting the family with arrangements.
