Ruth Ann Brosman passed away on December 27, 2025 at the age of 93 in her home, lovingly known as “The Barn.”
Ruth Ann was born in rural Delphi on September 16, 1932, the only child of Evert and Nellie Mullendore. She attended Rockfield and Yeoman grade schools and Delphi High School. After graduating in 1950, she met Don Brosman while working at Peters-Revington. A friend bet Don a dime he wouldn’t ask her out, so he took the bet, asked her out and the two married in 1953, creating a full life in Carroll County. Together they had four children, Janice, Scott, Gail, and Amy.
Ruth Ann was active in her children’s lives and in the community, keeping the books for Brosman’s IGA and working at Salin Bank. She was involved in the Home Ec Club and the Love Circle at Delphi United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and made clothing, fabric toys, and quilt tops. She was an avid reader who always loved a good story.
In 1982, Ruth Ann and Don purchased an old dairy barn with plans to create a bed and breakfast. After years of designing, renovating, and building, they chose to move into The Barn instead. This space was the hub of celebrations, holidays, and family gatherings for the next 40 years.
Her family and her friends were the core of Ruth Ann’s life. Their photos, artworks, and hand crafted gifts adorn the walls of The Barn, a gallery of love and memories. She had a knack for remembering names and places and could share endless stories of Delphi’s past and present. Ruth Ann loved those in her life deeply and made her children, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren know that they are seen and uniquely valued for exactly who they are.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, and a great-granddaughter; Eliza Robbins.
She is survived by her children: Janice (Jerry) Frey; Scott (Sara) Brosman; Gail (Brad) Burton; and Amy (Mark) Livingston. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Craig Frey; Dana (Chris) Crum, Brent (Shana) Frey; Ryan (Jennifer) Frey; Claire (Regan) Brosman; Alex (Stefanie) Brosman; Arielle (Sam) Hirt; Blaine (Emily) Burton, Grant Burton, Mara (Will) Robbins; Olivia (Julian) Perry. Her great-grandchildren include: Austin Meyers, Chase Frey, Cooper Crum, Bricker Crum, Carter Crum, Mia Frey, Monroe Frey, Brooks Frey, Mackenzie Frey, Madilynn Frey, Kaylyn Pinisetti, Harper Brosman, Asher Brosman, Salem Hirt, Matilda Hirt, Lincoln Burton, Lillian Burton, Everly Robbins, and Lyla Robbins. Ruth Ann’s caregivers, Jo and Jamie, became dear friends to her and helped fulfill her wish to live all her days in the comfort of The Barn, surrounded by memories of the incredible family and life she built.
