Raymond Leroy Brummett - Class Of 1950

 Raymond L. Brummett, 76, of Brookston, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at 10:50 a.m. at Heritage Healthcare Center in West Lafayette.  He had resided there since June 5.
  Born Aug. 30, 1932, in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Christopher A. and Pearl Etta Farney Brummett.  He graduated from Delphi High School in 1950.  His marriage was on Nov. 30, 1952, in Delphi, to Shirley A. Hughes, who survives. 
  Mr. Brummett was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving from 1953 to 1955, stationed in Alaska.
  He farmed all of his life in the Brookston area in Carroll and White counties.
  He was a member of the John Purdue Club.  He and his wife were very active in the club and he won the "P" award in 2005 for being an outstanding member.
  He was also a member of the Delphi American Legion Post #75.
  Mr. Brummett and his wife were extremely active and involved with the Purdue men's basketball team for many years.
  He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting and fishing.
  Also surviving are a daughter, Deb Corso (husband: Terry) of Chalmers; four sons, Mike Brummett (wife: Jan) of Delphi, Rex Brummett (wife: Bonnie), Mark L. Brummett and Rick Brummett (wife: Judi) all of Brookston; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Brummett of Delphi; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
  Preceding him in death were a grandson, Christopher J. Brummett, and a brother, Leonard Brummett.
  Services were held June 13 at the Brookston Federated Church.  The Rev. Dr. Leland McReynolds officiated.  Entombment followed at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette with military rites by the Delphi American Legion #75 and Delphi VFW #9383.
  Memorials may be made to the Raymond and Shirley Brummett Scholarship Fund for the benefit of a Frontier High School graduatig senior.
  Arrangements were made by Abbott Funeral Home in Delphi.
