Jerry L. Crone, 77, of Batesville, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2011, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.

Born Aug. 2, 1934, in Delphi, he was the son of the late Charles and Florence Viney Crone.

He married Shirley Bowman on June 30, 1956, in Delphi, and she survives.

Mr. Crone served in the Army and after his discharge became a mechanical engineer. He worked for Wilson Sporting Goods in Chicago, Alcoa in Dayton, Ohio, and was vice president of engineering for the Hill-Rom Co.

Surviving with his wife are sons, Mark of Danvers, Ill., Thomas of Cupertino, Calif., and Brian of Kent, Ohio.

Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 5th, at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville, followed by military rites conducted by Batesville V.F.W. Post 3183 and the Prell-Bland American Legion Post 271. Immediately following services a reception will be held at Hillcrest Country Club where the family will receive friends.
