DELPHI - Mel Brown of Delphi passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 10:58 a.m.

He was born in rural Delphi on September 27, 1934 to the late William Orville and Malinda Pearl (Blocher) Brown.

He was a 1952 graduate of Delphi High School. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Era.

He married Donnabelle Brown on June 27, 1953 at the Camden Baptist Church with Pastor Myron Hinton officiating.

He was a self-employed milk transporter and retired on June 1, 1996 as Field Manager for the Association of Milk Producers Inc. after 18 years.

He was a member of the Delphi Christian Church and served on the Adams Township Advisory Board.

He enjoyed playing the guitar for the country music band, Little David & the Music Makers.

He is survived by his wife, Donnabelle and 3 nieces he and his wife raised: Debbie Warner (husb: Jum), Diane Miller (husb: Lee) both of Monticello and Drindy Brown of Westfield; 2 sisters: Donna Beighler (husb: Howard) of Flora and Linda Red Elk of Camden; 2 Brothers: Ralph Brown (wife: Pam) of Deedsville and Richard Brown (wife: Kay) of Buffalo; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded by his brother, Orville; sister-in-law, Betty; brother-in-law, Kenneth Red Elk; an infant sister, Freda and great-grandson, Parker Miller.

Viewing will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi on Friday, January 27, 2012. Services will be on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Bob Duke officiating. Military Graveside Rites by the Delphi American Legion, Delphi VFW, Camden American Legion. Burial will be in Morning Heights Cemetery, Delphi.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Carroll County Food Pantry or American Cancer Society .
