Betty Cripe (Walker)

Betty Jean Walker, 81, formally of Stockwell, died Friday, September 11, 2015 at Milner Community Healthcare in Rossville.

Born May 23, 1934 in Pyrmont, Indiana; she was the daughter of the late Dean and Cornelia (Wolfson) Cripe.

Betty graduated from Delphi High School with the class of 1953. She married Stephen Walker on January 28, 1956 in Kokomo, IN. He preceded her in death in 1977.

Betty worked as a custodian at the Tippecanoe County office building, retiring in 1994. Prior to that, she worked at Boles Nursing Home in Clarks Hill. She was a member of the Stockwell United Methodist Church, Tippecanoe County Home Economics Club and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed needle point, word searches, Wii bowling, and traveling.

Surviving are her children: Billy E. Walker (Laura) of Lafayette, Donald D. Walker (Karen) of Rossville, and Reverend Kenneth D. Walker (Dianne) of Auburn, Indiana. Also surviving are her siblings: Ronald Cripe of Elk Grove Village, Illinois, Robert Cripe of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, Delores Carson of Hesperia, Michigan, and Vernon Cripe (Sandra) and Frances Lohman, both of Delphi, Indiana.

She is survived by thirteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her parents, husband and a sister, Caroline Reynolds.

Visitation will be on Monday from 5-8 P.M. at the Fisher Funeral Chapel. Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty will be held Tuesday at 11 A.M. at the Stockwell United Methodist Church with Reverend Mark Berg and Reverend Kenneth D. Walker officiating. Burial will follow at Monroe Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Stockwell United Methodist Church Missions Committee. Envelopes will be available both at the funeral home and church.
