Wendell E. "Whimp" Bell, 67, died Wednesday, January 27, 1982, in Brownsville Medical Center, Brownsville, Texas.
  Born at Monticello, Ky., he was reared in the Delphi area and was graduated from Delphi High School.  He had lived at Lafayette most of his life.  He had been employed at Alcoa 36 years, before retiring in 1975.  During the winter months he lived in Texas and the summer months at Minaki, Ontario, Canada.  His marriage in 1941 was to Alberta M. Stair.  He attended Buck Creek United Methodist Church and formerly was a member of Indiana National Guard.
  Surviving with the wife are a son, Bruce W. Bell of Lafayette, and his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Cletus (Liza) Bennett, Lafayette.
  Services were Saturday at Lafayette with interment in North Union Cemetery near Buck Creek.
