John E. Fisher, 79, of Delphi, died unexpectedly at 2:55 p.m. Jan. 17, 1996, at his residence.
  Born Aug. 30, 1916, in Madison Township, he was the son of John H. and Lula Barnhart Fisher.  His marriage was on Nov. 6, 1938, in Flora to M. Madeline Hicks, who survives.
  He farmed in Madison Township retiring in 1979.  He and his wife moved from their farm into Delphi 21 years ago.
  A 1934 graduate of Delphi High School, he was a member of IOOF Lodge #28 in Delphi and a former member of Moose Lodge in Delphi and Eagles Lodge in Frankfort.
  He enjoyed vegetable gardening.
  Also surviving are three daughters, Carolyn Dillman of Rt. 2, Delphi; Marilyn Mitchell of Rt. 2, Monticello; and Sharon Sumpter of South Bend.  A sister, Anna Maxwell, and a brother Glenn Fisher, both of Rt. 4, Delphi; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.
  Services were Saturday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ellcessor officiating.  Burial was in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora.
