Pauline Flora (Skiles) - Class Of 1934

E. Pauline Skiles, 90, of Lafayette, died at 4:54 p.m. on Jan. 24, 2006, at Home Hospital in Lafayette.

Born in Carroll County on Dec. 29, 1915, she was the daughter of Frank and Goldie Greider Flora. She was a graduate of Delphi High School, and in 1966, she graduated from Indiana State University.

Her marriage was to Morris D. Skiles on June 21, 1941, at the Methodist Church in Bringhurst, and he died on March 26, 1998.

Mrs. Skiles and her husband moved from Delphi to Lafayette in 1966.

She was a teacher at schools in Carroll and Tippecanoe counties for over 34 and one-half years.

Mrs. Skiles was a member of Delphi and Lafayette chapters of Tri Kappa and was a member of the Theta Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Teachers Sorority. She and her husband belonged to the Junto Club, a study club of Delphi.

She volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital in the surgery waiting room for a number of years and was a part-time receptionist at Central Presbyterian Church of Lafayette, of which she and her husband were long-time members.

Mrs. Skiles very much enjoyed teaching.

Pauline and Morris celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary before his death in 1998. She followed him into Eternal Life less than eight years later.

Surviving are a son, Richard "Dick" Skiles (wife: Patti) of Indianapolis; two granddaughters, Kim Dunlap of Fort Wayne and Amy Skiles of Indianapolis; and two great-grandchildren, Katie Dunlap and Matt Dunlap.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sharon Diane Skiles and a brother, Ralph Flora.

Services were Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home, with burial at Masonic Cemetery in Delphi.
