Harry Conn, 87, of Rockford, 81., died Aug. 8, 2001, in his residence. Born Aug. 6, 1914, in Lafayette, he was raised in Delphi. He studied mechanical engineering at Lewis Institute of Technology, Armour Institute of Technolgy, Illinois Institute of Technology and University of Chicago, and earned a doctorate in applied science from Colorado Polytechnic College. In 1977, he retired as chief executive officer of W.A. Whitney Corp. of Rockford, and was a consultant and served on various corporate boards. He also wrote various professional articles for journals and textbooks and had received several manufacturing awards. Mr. Conn is survived by his wife, Frances Conn; a son, Robert Conn of Peoria, Ill.; and two daughters, Faith Kemper of Rockford and Nancy Anderson of Gurnee, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held Sunday in Rockford.
