John Heiland

John F. Heiland, 78, of Delphi, died at 11:30 a.m. April 23, 1991, at Home Hospital. Born Aug. 5, 1912, in Carroll County, he was the son of William and Effie Shaffer Heiland. His marriage was on July 26, 1936, in Lafayette, to Dorothy A. Amos, who survives. He had lived in Carroll County all of his life. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1933. He was a lathe operator at Globe Valve Corp. for 38 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Pittsburg Church of the Brethren and a member and former district secretary of IOOF Lodge 28. Surviving with his wife are one daughter, Janet A. Clark of Indianapolis; a son, Russell D. Heiland of Muncie; a sister, Ethel Benner of Delphi; a brother, Charles Heiland of Ooltewah, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Services were Friday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. John Nalley officiating. Burial was in IOOF Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the Pittsburg Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund.
