Gladys Jackson (Ridder)

Gladys A. Ridder, 98 was born Nov. 15, 1915, daughter of the late Reed and wife Hazel (Neff) Jackson in Carroll County. Gladys graduated from Delphi High School in 1933. On July 3, 1933 she married Martin Ridder. He died in Aug 1995. Gladys worked in the Tippecanoe County Court House for twenty one years. First in the Fairfield Township Assessor office, then as Chief Deputy in the County Auditor's office when Clyde Lewis was Auditor and lastly Executive Secretary of the drainage board. She retired in Nov. 1977. Gladys belonged to St. James Lutheran Church and over the years belonged to many of the church organizations in Carroll Co. She also belonged to St. Matthews Lutheran Church. Her hobbies were cooking, gardening, and playing cards.

Surviving, are son Gregg Ridder (wife Linda Ade) of Clinton, WA, three grandchildren, Shawn Geswein (wife Brenna), Spencer Geswein (wife Tekoa), and Sherry Underwood, husband Kevin, all of West Lafayette, a step grandchild, Brian Jones (wife Whitney) of San Francisco, and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughters, Patricia Hanley in 2000 and Pamela Geswein in 2010, and a sister, Laureen Cohee. Visitation will be 10-11 AM with the service beginning at 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 5, 2014 all at St. James Lutheran Church, 615 N. 8th St. Lafayette, IN 47905. Pastor Salemink and Pastor Borg will be officiating. Memorial donations can be made to St. James Lutheran Church.
