Owen Delaney - Class Of 1934

Owen W. Delaney, 73, of 205 High School Avenue, Battle Ground, departed this life November 27, 1987, at the Americana Healthcare Center, where he had been a resident for less than one month. Mr. Delaney was born October 13, 1914 in Delphi He was the son of John T. Delaney and Edna Beaver Delaney. He married Geraldine Layton Anderson March 28, 1987, in Battle Ground. Mr. Delaney worked as a linesman and installer for the Carroll County Telephone Company in Indiana (now Alltel Indiana) for over 25 years, retiring in the mid 1970s. He attended Delphi High School He was also a World War II Veteran. He was enlisted in the U S Army and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Delphi American legion Post 75 and the VFW of Lafayette. He also attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. Surviving with his wife. Geraldine, and his stepchildren. Mrs. Harold (Sandy) Snider, West Point. Mrs. Greg (Vickie) Carter, Linnville, In.. Mr. Otis Anderson. Bottle Ground. Mrs. David (Joyce) Rider, Yeoman. Mrs. Gene (Catherine Gelmene) Knight, Logansport. Mrs. Kent (Doris Ann) Macy, Monticello, and two brothers. Robert Delaney, Delphi, and Charles Delaney, Delphi. Mr. Delaney had 15 grandchildren and one great grandson. The funeral was held Monday at 10:00 a. m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church. Fr. Donald Hardcheck did the officiating The burial will be held at Pretty Prairie Cemetery, Battle Ground.
