Services for Esther M. Boone Johns, 87, formerly of rural Delphi, were held Saturday at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. She died at 8:47 a.m. Jan.12, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Lafayette. Born April 8, 1917, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of David and Margaret Caldwell Boone. She was married on March 24, 1948, in Silver City, New Mexico, to Floyd Johns Jr. who survives. They had been residing the past year at the Indiana Veterans Home in Lafayette. Mrs. Johns was a 1935 graduate of Delphi High School. A homemaker, she helped her husband in their farming operation. She also worked at Duncan Meter (Lanis Gyr) in Lafayette for 12 years and operated Pots On Restaurant in Patton. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Delphi, and Monticello Eagles Lodge. Also surviving are two sons, Barney J. Johns of New Mexico and Larry M. Johns (wife Linda) of Delphi; a sister, Blanche Kite of Lafayette; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren. Two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. (Yeoman Cemetery)
