Dennis Eugene McCouch

  Dennis E. McCouch, 79, a resident of the Indiana Veterans Home, West Lafayette, died there at 10:40 p.m. April 4, 1997.  Formerly of Delphi, he had resided at the Home for five years.
  Born Aug. 29, 1917, in Carroll County, he was the son of John and Agnes Robinson McCouch.
  He was a 1935 graduate of Delphi High School and a graduate of Indiana University.
  He served in the Army during World War II.
  As a young man, he was a railway mail clerk.  Later, he taught social studies at the Flora school and Delphi Junior-Senior High School, and taught fifth and sixth grade at the New Hope School.
  A Delphi and Carroll County historian, he was a charter member and past president of both the Wabash and Erie Canal Association and the Carroll County Historical Society.
  Surviving is one sister, Doretha Buck of Lafayette.
  Graveside services were Monday at Masonic Cemetery, Delphi, with Rev. Keith Koteskey officiating.  Horn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
  Memorials may be made to the Wabash and Erie Canal Association.
