Thomas L. Shaffer, 78, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of the Delphi community, died at 9:20 p.m. Feb. 156, 1996, at Northgate Park Nursing Home in Florissant, Mo.
  Born Oct. 1, 1917, in Carroll County, he was the son of Harry and Dot Allen Shaffer.  His marriage was on April 1, 1944, in Indianapolis, to Irene Crites, who survives.
  A 1935 graduate of Delphi High School, he lived in the St. Louis area for over 40 years.
  He worked in passenger relations for TWA Airline in St. Louis for 30 years, retiring in 1985.
  Also surviving are one daughter, Karen Shaffer, and one son, Don Shaffer, both of St Louis; two brothers, John Shaffer and Harry "Herb" Shaffer Jr., both of Rt. 2, Flora; a sister, Josephine Shaffer Horine of Indianapolis; and two grandchildren.
  Services were Sunday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Ellcesor officiating.  Burial was in Zion Cemetery, Rt. 2, Flora.
