Florence Bowman (Goyer)

Florence Arleene Bowman Goyer, 89, who formerly lived on Lafayette Street, died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. She had been a resident there since Aug. 31, 2004.

She was born Sept. 17, 1918, in Russiaville to late George and Jessie Rogers Bowman. She was a 1936 graduate of Delphi High School.

She married Harold S. Goyer in Rockfield on Dec. 24, 1939, and he died Jan. 14, 1988.

Mrs. Goyer worked for Delphi Auto Supply as its bookkeeper for many years and was the treasurer for the Carroll County Council on Aging until 2004. She and her late husband helped found and establish the Carroll County Council on Aging in Delphi.

She was a longtime member of Delphi United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Light Circle of the church, and she participated in a home economics club in Delphi. She enjoyed camping and flower gardening.

Surviving are two sons, Donald Goyer (wife: Shirley) of Delphi and James Goyer (wife: Mary) of Millington, Tenn.
Surviving are 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 brothers, 4 sisters.
