Mary Jane Mount (Garver)

Mrs. Mary Jane Garver, 67, a schoolteacher, died at 9p.m. Friday, November 1, 1985, in her home at 216 S. Indiana Street, Delphi. She had been in ill health one year. Born April 29, 1918, in Delphi, the daughter of Haughey and Ruth Mount, who were owners of Mount's Hardware Store, she was a 1936 graduate of Delphi High School, and a 1940 graduate of Butler University. Mary Jane had been a first grade teacher for 40 years, teaching 39 years at the Pittsburg Grade School, before her retirement in 1981. On June 23, 1940, she was married in Delphi to Herbert F. Garver, who died in 1983. Mary Jane was a member of the Delphi Christian Church, the Indiana Retired Teachers Association, and the Beta Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa sorority. Services were held Monday, November 4, 1985, at the Horn Funeral Home, Pastor Paul Davis officiating. A Tri-Kappa memorial service was held Sunday evening, preceding the service. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery, Delphi. Survivors include a brother, Robert Mount, of Evansville; 2 nephews, a niece; and 7 great-nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Carroll County Cancer Association or the Delphi Christian Church.
