William Walters

William P. “Bill” Walters, 82, Delphi, died at 3 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, in his home, following a three month illness. Born March 17, 1916, in Carroll County, he was the son of Cull and Bessie Sneathen Walters. He was married July 7, 1940, in Delphi, to Ruth Thompson, who survives. He worked for 30 years for NIPSCO as a gas serviceman before he retired. He also worked for Central States Gas Co., and for Michigan & Indiana Gas & Electric Co., both in Delphi. After retiring, he did private gas and furnace repair work. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Delphi Christian Church where he was a former deacon and elder. For the past 18 years, he attended First Assembly of God in Lafayette. He was a former Delphi City Councilman. He enjoyed Purdue football. Also surviving are three brothers, Gerald “Junior” Walters of Delphi, Robert “Bob” Walters of Venice, Fla., and Donald Walters of Camden. A son, three brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Horn Funeral Home, with Rev. Ellis Gasser officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery. Delphi Carroll County Comet October 14, 1998
