Robert James Walters

 Robert J. "Bob" Walters, 82 of 1300 N River Rd, Venice, Fla., died April 20, 2000, in a hospice facility in Venice.
  Born Jan. 5, 1918, in Delphi, he was the son of Cull and Bessie Sneathen Walters.  He moved from Delphi to Indianapolis in the early 1940s, and lived there over 40 years.  He had lived in Venice for the past 15 years.
  Mr. Walters worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in Indianapolis for 29 years, retiring in 1978.
  He was a 1936 graduate of Delphi High School.
  A World War II Navy veteran, he served in the European theater.
  He formerly belonged to the Millersville Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis.  He enjoyed fishing and bowling.
  Surviving are one son, Gary L. Walters of Indianapolis; a daughter, Debbie Dungan of Fort Myers, Fla; two brothers, Donald Walters of Camden and Gerald "Junior" Walters of Delphi; and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
  Graveside services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Morning Heights Cemetery, Delphi, with Rev. Ellis Gasser officiating.  Abbott Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
