Freda Allbaugh (Eller) - Class Of 1937

Freda Alta Eller, 90, of Flora, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009, in Clarian Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, where she had been a patient one week.

Born Sept. 28, 1919, in Carrollton Township, Carroll County, she was the daughter of the late Fred D. and Queen Allen Allbaugh.

She graduated from Delphi High School in 1937 and earned a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Ball State Teachers College and a master's degree in special education from Butler University. She was a teacher for 32 1/2 years and taught at Cutler, Pittsburgh, Delphi, Flora and Wallace Schools in Kokomo before retiring.

Her marriage was to Basil C. Eller on May 17, 1941, in Muncie. He preceded her in death Aug. 6, 2002.

Mrs. Eller was a member of Flora First Brethren where she was a Deaconess, Sunday school teacher and volunteered in various positions. She also was a member of WMS, was past worthy matron of the Flora Order of Eastern Star; a member of Carroll County Historical Society, and was a Red Coat volunteer at Home Hospital in Lafayette, for Meals on Wheels and Thrift Shop in Flora.

Survivors include a daughter, Madonna Jean Beal (husband: Phillip) of Pope County, Ill.; one son, James Riley Eller (wife: Mary Ann) of Burlington; and three sisters, Lois Maxwell and June Clem (husband: Charlie), both of Flora, and Carmen Wise of Buck Creek.

Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandsons, 2 great-granddaughters and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Allbaugh of Delphi. A brother, George Allbaugh, preceded in death.
