John Delaney - Class Of 1937

John E. Delaney, 35, of Delphi, War II veteran, died at St Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, at 3:45 Friday afternoon. He had suffered a stroke Tuesday morning, and a second one Thursday at the hospital. Born in Delphi Feb. 21,1919, he was the son of John T. and Edna Beaver Delaney. A graduate of Delphi high school he served in the Philippines as a member of the Nation Guard. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. On Feb. 14, 1943, he married Virginia Pletcher, who survives with three sons, Ned, Phil and! David. Also four brothers, Charles, Robert, Owen and Lawrence, all of Delphi. Final rites were held at ten o'clock Monday at St. Joseph’s church, Delphi, with Rev. Father Francis Kienly officiating. Burial was made in Delphi Masonic cemetery.
