Elizabeth Wilkinson (Andrew) - Class Of 1938

Mrs. Paul (Elizabeth Wilkinson) Andrew, 24, died Friday in the St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, following the birth of a little daughter, Paula Elizabeth, on Tuesday, Nov. 7, by Caesarian section. It is believed that blood clot which formed at the base of the brain was the cause of the young mother’s death. Born in Delphi on Dec. 19, 1920, she was the youngest daughter of Charles L. and Clarice Switzer Wilkinson. Mrs. Andrew was a graduate of the Delphi high school, class of 1938; she attended Purdue University where she was a member of Alpha Lambda honorary society. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and Gamma Alpha chapter of Tri Kappa sorority. On March 20, 1943, Betty Wilkinson was married to Paul Robert Andrew in the Presbyterian manse, Delphi, with Rev. Miles A. Freeman reading the ceremony. After their marriage the couple lived for a time in Lafayette and Crawfordsville, but had been in Delphi since April because of Mrs. Andrew’s ill health. The parents preceded their daughter in death a number of years ago. Survivors include the husband and the baby daughter; a sister, Mrs. Clyde Robbins of Delphi. Last rites were held Sunday afternoon at three o'clock at the Blythe funeral home with Rev. Miles A. Freeman and Rev. Merlin Schwein officiating. Burial was made in the Masonic cemetery here.
