Dale Birley - Class Of 1946

  Funeral services were Monday afternoon at Delphi Christian Church for Dale E. Birley, 57, of Delphi who died Friday, Jan. 14, 1983, at 11 a.m.  His death was unexpected from an apparent heart attack.
  Born Mar. 3, 1925, in Madison, his parents were Oral and Gladys Ferguson Birley.  His marriage to Martha Collins Klopfenstein was June 12, 1966.  She survives.
  His memberships include Delphi Christian Church where he was an elder, deacon and chairman of the board and a former secretary and treasurer, Delphi Lions Club of which he is past presdient.  He is a World War II veteran.
  Surviving with the wife are two daughters, Linda A. Birley, Logansport, Mrs. Duaine (Sandra K.) Isley Ward, Delphi; two step-daughters, Mrs. Charles (Carol) Johnson, Burnettsville, Mrs. Carroll (Marshal) Bates, Rushville; four step-sons, Charles Klopfenstein, Reynolds, Ralph Klopfenstein, Cutler, Lynn Klopfenstein, Terre Haute, Lester Klopfenstein, Rockfield; one brother, Donald Birley, Mt. Carmel, Ill.; his step father, Harry Slack, Lexington, Ky.; two half-sisters: Barbara Freels, Lexington, Ky., and Rebecca Brown, Louisville, Ky., 11 step- brothers, and step-sisters and 21 grandchildren.
  Pastor Paul Davis officiated and burial was in Zion Cemetery.  Horn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund or Lions Club Eye Bank.
