Jean Brehmer - Class Of 1946

     M. Jean Brehmer, 67, of Delphi, died at 8:28 a.m. Sept. 6, 1996, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center.  She had been a patient there for the past month.

     Born Dec. 28, 1928, in Meadow Lake near Wolcott, she was the daughter of Gustal W. and Lillie M. Sigman Brehmer.

     She graduated from Delphi High School in 1946.

     After graduation, she worked nine years as a bookkeeper at National Homes in Lafayette.  For the next eight years, she lived in Kansas City, Mo., then returned to Lafayette and worked as a bookkeeper and became part owner of Murphy Oil Co. of Lafayette.  She was there for 20 years.  For the past 10 years, she had been a bookkeeper for Fleischhauer Rentals in West Lafayette.

     Miss Brehmer attended Bethany Presbyterian Church in Lafayette and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Delphi.  She was a former member of Tri Kappa sorority in Delphi and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her nieces and nephews.

     Surviving are one sister, Elsie Burkhalter of Delphi; and a brother, Allen Brehmer of Peru.  She was preceded in death by three brothers and her parents.

     Services were Monday at Horn Funeral Home with Rev. Ellis Gasser and Rev. H. Ann Smith officiating.  Burial was in IOOF Memorial Gardens, Delphi.

     Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Healthcare Hospice Unit or Carroll County Cancer Association.
