Mary Patricia (Clifford) Christie, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 31, 2018. Mary was born October 24, 1928 in Delphi, Indiana to James and Helen (McKay) Clifford. She was one of eight children. Mary was a graduate of Delphi High School, earned her B.S degree in Education from Indiana State Teachers College in 1950, and a Masters Degree in Education from Butler University in 1972. Mary was married in 1952 to Charles L. Christie and raised seven children. Mary was an elementary school teacher with Indianapolis Public Schools 51 and 26 for 30 years. After retiring in 1993, Mary continued to substitute teach for the IPS school system for an additional 15 years until the age of 80. She was a member of Little Flower Catholic Church. Mary is preceded in death by her son Steven Christie, sisters Marie Clifford, Marjorie Clifford, Helen Bernard and Dorothy Lidester as well as her brothers Maurice Clifford, Jack Clifford and Dick Clifford. She is survived by her children Ann Sherlock, Lee (Liz) Christie, Nancy (Tim) White, Keith (Kathy) Christie, Dennis (Teresa) Christie, Denise (Dan) Demeter, sister, Joan Clifford, 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 8th at 11 am at Little Flower Catholic Church with visitation from 9 to 11 am. Services entrusted to Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary.
