James Maxwell - Class Of 1946

DELPHI -- James M. Maxwell, 82, of 11180 W. Bicycle Bridge Road, died unexpectedly at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at Clarian Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He had been a patient there one day.

He was born on Oct. 14, 1928, in Lafayette, and was the son of the late John and Anna Welday Maxwell. He was a 1946 graduate of Delphi High School.

His marriage was to Betty Jean Larimore in Delphi on Dec. 7, 1951, and she died July 30, 2001.

Mr. Maxwell was a member of the Indiana National Guard and farmed most of his life in Carroll County, Tippecanoe Township.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and IOOF Lodge 28, both in Delphi. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and visted 48 states. They had wintered in Bonita Springs, Fla., since 1975.

He enjoyed camping, mushroom hunting and crossword puzzles, and he collected clocks and watches.

Surviving are a daughter, Sherri Dyer and Cindy McLeland (husband: John), and a son, James Maxwell (wife: Charlene), all of Delphi.

He loved his children, grand- and great-grandchildren, and all extended family and his many friends. He was surrounded by his loving family at the hospital when he passed away.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Ryan and Krista Dyer, Kristi and Matt Reynolds, Heather Kesling, Matt Kesling, Logan Maxwell and Alyx Maxwell; his great-grandchildren, James Ryan, Michael and Kory Dyer, Evan Reynolds, Annika and Maxwell Campbell.
