Max Smith - Class Of 1946

  Max J. Smith, 77, Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., died Feb. 22, 2006.
  Born in Colburn on March 9, 1928, he was the son of Lester and Hazel Fetterhoff Smith.
  He married for 51 years to Patricia Ann Wise, who preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 2004.
  Mr. Smith was a career heavy-duty truck salesman and dealer for more than 40 years.  He held keen interest in nature, especially birds and world geography.
  A 1946 graduate of Delphi High School.  Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Navy after World War II on the USS Knight and the NTS Great Lakes.
  He was an active member of the Community United Methodist Church in West Boca Raton, Fla.
  Prior to moving to South Florida in 1984, Mr. Smith lived in Logansport for more than 20 years.  He was a past member of the Orient Lodge, Elks, American Legion and the Murat Temple.
  Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Cathy Smith; two daughters and a son-in-laws, Cheryl Smith and Molly and Joel Dagendesh; six grandchildren, Stephanie Szabo, Matthew Smith, Erin Smith, Jacob Smith, John Dagendesh, and Kayla Dagendesh; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Szabo and Dominick Smith; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane and Marty Smith and Leroy and Helen Smith; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Leon; and one sister, Florence.
  Services will be held at 11 a.m. on March 11 at Camden United Methodist Church.  Pre-service visitation will begin at 9 a.m.
