Nelson Sines - Class Of 1946

Nelson W. Sines, 93, of Delphi, passed away Saturday-November 6, 2021 at 7:15pm at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center in Delphi. He was born February 4, 1928 in Carroll County, IN, to the late Robert & Nora Ghere Sines. His marriage was to Pearl I. Johns in Delphi, on January 18, 1948, and she preceded him in death on November 17, 2020. Nelson was a 1946 graduate of Delphi High School. He farmed all his life in Deer Creek Township, Carroll County, raising grain, hogs and cattle. He was a member, deacon & elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Delphi. He was a past president of the Carroll County Farm Bureau Board, and a member of the Carroll County Pork Producers. He also belonged to the I.O.O.F. Lodge #28 in Delphi for many years. He and his wife enjoyed square dancing, and were members of the Whirly Twirlers Square Dancing Club. He and his wife enjoyed traveling, and he played on a church dartball team for many years. Nelson was inducted into the Carroll County Ag Hall of Fame, after his many years of farming, and dedication to agriculture in Carroll County. He dearly loved his family and the time they would spend together. Surviving: son's-Chuck W. Sines of Brookston; Mark & Beverly Sines of Peoria, AZ; John & Barbara Sines of Normal, IL; grandchildren: Jon Sines, Jay Sines, Jimmy Sines, Nita Daniels, Craig Sines, Jenna Sines, & Julia Sines. Great grandchildren: Chase, Katy, Owen, Jacob, Luke, Ricky, Cody, & Haley. Preceded in death by an infant son Thomas Nelson Sines; a sister Mary K. Kerker; 6 half sister's; 2 half brother's. Services: Viewing will be Saturday from 12pm until his funeral service at 1pm at Abbott Funeral Home, Inc., Delphi. Pastor Grace Hammer officiating. Burial at Masonic Cemetery, Delphi. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Carroll County 4-H Exhibit Board, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
