Jane Timms (Vandevender) - Class Of 1946

Mildred Jane Vandevender, 90, of Monticello, passed away at 12:05 am, Friday, November 30, 2018 at Monticello Healthcare.

She was born on May 29, 1928 in Jasper County to the late Orla and Mildred (Gillespie) Timm. On September 10, 1950 she married Clarence Vandevender and he preceded her in death on January 18, 2015.

Jane was a 1946 graduate of Delphi High School and was primarily a homemaker but had worked 16 years for Bryan Manufacturing.

Jane was a member of the Yeoman United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years to children, and later to the 59ers class. She was also active in the United Methodist Women.

She enjoyed crossword puzzles, word searches and reading. She also enjoyed cooking , baking, sewing and in her younger years enjoyed gardening and canning. Jane loved her family, especially her grandchildren and loved taking care of them.

Surviving are her sons, Alan C. (Patti) Vandevender of Ultimate Springs, FL, Daniel L. Vandevender of Monticello; sister in law, Betty T. Greene; brother, Bill (Dorothy) Timm; two granddaughters, Julie Hicks, Jamie (Cliff ) Jones; one grandson, Bradley Vandevander; four great grandsons, Thomas Hicks, Cody Vandevender, Jacob Jones, Justin Jones; and great granddaughter, Jocelyn Jones.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Springer-Voorhis-Draper Funeral Home of Monticello and also one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Funeral services celebrating Jane’s life will be at 10:00 am Thursday at the Yeoman United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Thompson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Riverview I.O.O.F. in rural Monticello.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Yeoman United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church.
